KnowMood app
App privacy policy
Last updated September 7, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how KnowMood (“the app,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the app, visit this website, or contact us.
For privacy questions or requests, email soleilsunshine77@gmail.com.
1. Your personal entries
The app stores your mood check-ins, selected feelings and daily-life factors, short notes, entry dates, preferences, and optional period records on your device. You choose what to record. The app does not require a separate account with us.
Mood patterns are calculated on your device. Your entries are not sent to a generative AI service for analysis or personalized advice.
We do not send your mood values, feelings, daily-life selections, notes, entry dates, period dates, cycle status, or personal pattern results to our analytics or crash-reporting services. We do not maintain a separate journal database on our own business server.
2. Optional iCloud backup
If you enable iCloud backup, the app stores a backup of your entries, optional cycle records, and relevant preferences in your private CloudKit database associated with your Apple Account. Apple processes this data to provide iCloud services under its own terms and privacy policy.
Backup is intended for recovery, not real-time synchronization or merging records across devices. Turning automatic backup off does not remove an existing cloud copy. Your device’s own Apple backup settings may also affect how app data is backed up.
3. Usage analytics and diagnostics
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used and Firebase Crashlytics to investigate crashes and technical problems.
These services may process app-instance or installation identifiers, device model, operating system, app version, language, approximate region, app interactions, purchase-related events, timestamps, and crash or diagnostic information. Approximate region may be derived from network information; we do not request precise location access for mood tracking.
Our custom analytics events describe actions and outcomes, such as opening a screen or completing a purchase. We do not attach the contents of your personal entries to those events. Firebase may also automatically collect technical information and standard events. App and installation identifiers can distinguish an installation even though you do not create an account with us.
We use this information to understand feature usage, improve reliability, and troubleshoot purchase flows. We do not use your journal or cycle information for advertising. The app does not display ads, and we do not use these services to track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising.
4. Purchases
Apple processes in-app purchases. The app receives transaction and entitlement information needed to verify purchases, provide Premium access, and restore eligible purchases. We do not receive your full payment-card number. Apple may retain purchase records under its own policies and legal obligations.
5. Reminders
If you allow notifications, the app schedules reminders on your device. You can change your reminder preferences in the app or revoke notification permission in iOS Settings. Reminder text does not include your recorded mood, note, or period details.
6. When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address and the information and attachments you choose to provide. We use this information to answer your request, investigate issues, and maintain relevant support records. Our email provider also processes that correspondence to deliver the service.
Please avoid sending sensitive journal content unless it is necessary for your request. We do not need your Apple Account password or full payment information.
7. Purposes and legal bases
We process information to provide requested app features, manage Premium access, respond to support requests, and improve reliability. Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of our agreement for requested services, legitimate interests for proportionate support and reliability improvements, consent where required for optional processing, and compliance with legal obligations where applicable. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing.
8. Disclosure and international processing
We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Information may be processed by Apple, Google/Firebase, and our email service provider for the functions described above. We may disclose information we hold when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, prevent abuse, or address security issues.
These providers may process information in countries outside your own. Where required, applicable contractual or other lawful safeguards govern international transfers.
9. Retention and deletion
Your local entries remain until you delete them or they are otherwise removed from your device. App-managed iCloud copies remain until they are deleted or replaced through the backup and deletion processes. Turning backup off does not delete earlier copies.
Usage analytics is retained according to the retention settings applied to our Google Analytics property and Google’s applicable service rules. Firebase states that Crashlytics keeps crash traces and associated identifiers for 90 days before beginning removal from live and backup systems. Support correspondence is kept only as long as reasonably needed to resolve requests, maintain necessary records, and meet legal obligations.
Use Me → Delete All Data for the app’s deletion process. If remote deletion cannot complete, read the options carefully: choosing local-only deletion leaves the iCloud copy in place. Uninstalling does not guarantee deletion of cloud backups, previously collected analytics, correspondence, or Apple transaction records. Resetting an analytics identifier is not the same as deleting previously collected service-side data.
For requests concerning information we hold or process through service providers, contact soleilsunshine77@gmail.com. We may need limited information to locate the relevant records and verify the request; do not send private journal entries merely to identify yourself.
10. Your choices and rights
You can choose which optional details to record, edit or delete entries, manage iCloud backup, and enable or disable reminders. Depending on your location and applicable law, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, and complain to a competent privacy regulator.
Contact us to exercise applicable rights or ask about collection controls. These rights may be subject to lawful limitations, and we may be unable to identify some installation-based records without further information.
11. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 through our support or analytics services. If you believe a child has provided such information, contact us so that we can investigate and take appropriate action. Local laws may set additional age or parental-consent requirements.
12. Security
We use reasonable safeguards and the protections provided by iOS and our service providers. No storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security. Protect your device and Apple Account, and review backup settings before changing devices or deleting the app.
13. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the app or our practices change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice where required.
